Greetings to the Eve Online community!
Due to the resounding and well received success of this months Venture killing contest - I would like to take the time to announce next months contest so anyone who wishes to take part in it can be ready! Some wonderful prizes have already been pledged, and as we move closer to the start of the contest - many more will be added. This is "Emergent Gameplay" at it's finest, and it is our *pleasure* to bring the community events like this.
What I think made the Venture contest so amazing was the simple fact that ANYONE can take part in it - no months of skill training required, no social contacts required - just get out there, shoot them, and tell them the New Order sent you. The September 2014 contest will also be something even a brand new character can take part in!
It is in this spirit that I wish to formally announce the contest for September of 2014!
Pod killing contest!

Rules: There will be TEN winners of this contest, and rank will be determined not by number of kills but by value of the pod kill itself. The highest value pod of the month will take the first prize, the second pod will take second place, and so on. Targets must NOT have a valid permit at the time of death. Pod kills scored against any New Order agent will, of course, not be counted. The kill, of course, must take place in High-Sec space. ANYONE is welcome to play and take part in the contest, with the exception of the contest creator (myself) or any players who assist me in running the contest.
How to play: Simple. Go find some pods and shoot them. After the kill, simply eve-mail DJentropy Ovaert with a subject line of "Pod Kill - Sep 2014 Contest". Include a link to the Zkillboard.com record of the kill. In game kill mails will not be accepted, nor will links to any other killboard - Zkill only. If you need help setting up a limited API to automatically upload your kills to zkill, or prefer to manually post them and need help - simply join the minerbumping channel (password is 315) and ask for some help and an agent will be glad to assist you.
The contest will run from Sep 1st (starting at 12:00AM) and will run until Sep 3th (Ending at 11:59pm). This, of course, is server time - not your own personal local time. A "leaderboard" will be made public for anyone to check their status, and will be updated daily.

Q: Is anyone *not* allowed to take part in this contest?
A: Yes. As the organizer of this contest, I will not be taking part. Any players who donate their time to assist in running this contest will also not be allowed to be considered for a prize.
Q: But pod killing causes a hit to my security status! How do I operate in high-sec with a bad security standing?
A: Easy. Simply join the minerbumping channel (password 315) and ask for help. An agent will be happy to show you how to use Clone Soldier tags to keep your security status high. You can also simply use a scout to spot your targets regardless of your security status. Our agents have a lot of experience with this, so don't hesitate to ask for help!
Q: My kill was rejected! What gives?
A: You did not follow the rules. Only kills posted to Zkillboard will be accepted. Kills against agents of the New Order will not be accepted. If you feel a mistake was made, simply get in touch with DJentropy Ovaert and we can review things.
Q: I don't know how to find escape pods to kill / I keep failing on my attempts to destroy them!
A: Join the minerbumping channel (password 315) and ask for some help. An agent will be with you as soon as possible.
Q: I want to sponser this contest! How can I help?
A: If you wish to donate cash or prizes (the nature of the prize itself is up to you, be creative!) simply contact DJentropy Ovaert and we will get things set up. If you wish to help with tracking kills or other administrative work, contact me!
Q: I'm worried about taking part in this contest. What happens if CCP decides that shooting pods in high-sec is against the rules or some sort of violation of acceptable player conduct?
A: You have nothing to worry about, as long as you remain aware that killing players in Rookie systems (the systems that new players start in) or the nearby systems where new players receive their rookie missions can result in a warning by CCP to knock it off. High-Sec PVP has been around a long time, and as long as you do not target players in the systems mentioned above, you have nothing to worry about. You can join the minerbumping channel (password 315) if you need a list of what systems are considered "newbie starting systems" if you are confused about this.

+1 for content creation that even new players can get involved in, remember everyone: a pod only has ~450 HP, and you can train a anti-pod Thrasher in about 2 hours! |

I have a concern.
So many agents and respected members of the New Order have donated amazing prizes to this pool, but we all know that "Figher Jets GuitarSolo" is literally sitting on the largest pile of monocles and ethically sourced gear in all of Jita right now, as well as a pile of Fedo that literally requires a few accounts just to hold.
Fighter Jets, where is your support? I will take you dinner and buy you flowers, of course. |

Thanks, Derrick - though the Venture contest never had anything to do with the age of players, simply a specific ship type. I've seen countless older players using them as well. Contact me if you would like to consider adding a prize to the pool :)
Also - everyone - we are only a few days from the kick off of the contest! Get those artie thrashes ready, tons more prizes to be added as the event begins - some lucky people are going to get quite space rich and much fun will be had!

Got a little behind with some RL stuff over the last 48 hours, will get a update to the leaderboard in at some point today.
Remember guys - only submissions that follow the rules will be accepted (Evemail, sent to me, with the right subject line and a zkill link).
Subject line is a key, I get a fair amount of mail and it gets to be a bit of a pain to sort it all out when people don't follow the format. |
